Dear Ones,

In the face of what has happened, I want to share my heart with all of you. America has been rocked to its very foundation, but the foundation stands firm, because it is built on the Rock, Jesus Christ!

Like a massive tidal wave slamming into our shores and wreaking havoc and destruction, so have these acts of terrorism manifested. Yet they were not sudden, though they were unexpected by most of America.

In the seething caldrons of mal-intent, festering in hearts darkened by hatred and void of God, this evil plan took shape. Since such hatred and depth of depravity is beyond us, we are numb to comprehend such actions.

Although our hearts are filled with grief and our minds filled with questions, there is one action that we as a nation can collectively do.  That one action is to seek the face of God!  Like our forefathers of old, we need to humble ourselves before the Almighty.  George Washington knelt in the snow and prayed when all seemed lost.  Likewise, King Jehoshaphat in the Old Testament acknowledged God and sought His help:

2 Chr 20:5-12

Then Jehoshaphat stood in the assembly of Judah and Jerusalem, in the house of the LORD, before the new court,     and said: "O LORD God of our fathers, are You not God in heaven, and do You not rule over all the kingdoms of the nations, and in Your hand is there not power and might, so that no one is able to withstand You?  "Are You not our God, who drove out the inhabitants of this land before Your people Israel, and gave it to the descendants of Abraham Your friend forever?  "And they dwell in it, and have built You a sanctuary in it for Your name, saying,  'If disaster comes upon us-- sword, judgment, pestilence, or famine-- we will stand before this temple and in Your presence (for Your name is in this temple), and cry out to You in our affliction, and You will hear and save.' "And now, here are the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir-- whom You would not let Israel invade when they came out of the land of Egypt, but they turned from them and did not destroy them--  "here they are, rewarding us by coming to throw us out of Your possession which You have given us to inherit.  "O our God, will You not judge them? For we have no power against this great multitude that is coming against us; nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are upon You."  (NKJ)

First, we need to recognize that God is still with us and He is still in control.  We may feel helpless against faceless terrorists, but He is not!

Second, we need to return to God.  We need to build a sanctuary in our hearts for Him to dwell in.  It’s as simple as saying, “Lord, I give You control of my life.  I recognize You as Lord and Savior and ask You to forgive me and come and live in my heart.”

Third, we need to remind God that this great land of ours was founded on Him, and then make sure it still is!  “In God we trust.”

Fourth, we need to ask for His Divine help and assistance in all areas and for His mercy, peace and comfort during these trying times.

Last, but not least, we need to thank Him for being with us through this.  Thank Him for helping us individually and as a nation, and for gracing our President with wisdom and insight and courage.

Let us come together in a spirit of humbleness and unity.  The time for “politics” and nitpicking is past.  It is time to unite under the banner of “One Nation, under God, indivisible.” Let us be undivided in thought, heart and purpose!  Let us be undivided in hearts bowing before God and voices lifted up in prayer. Let us be undivided as a nation that comes together and rallies around our President and lawmakers as they seek freedom and justice for all.

Let us be like King David who penned these words:

Ps 121:1-2

1      I will lift up my eyes to the hills-- from whence comes my help?

2      My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth.

(NKJ)

God bless America and every one of you!  May God be with us all!
